Since my last post, I have started printing and building up layers of imagery for most of my prints. Here is an early sneak peak at ten of the evolving proofs on my wall as I play with content and imagery. Ideally they would all hang side by side, but my studio isn't big enough for that. While it's a bit tedious building up the layers slowly by printing one or two plates per sheet per day (the ink needs to dry before I can add more layers), I enjoy the process of watching the images build up and emerge. I enjoy choosing plates from my 'plate library'; some of the plates I have used for a few years already, while others I have etched recently to add new imagery to the narrative.
I'm still waiting for some final feedback on a few of my text pages, but I think the text selection is almost done. I'm progressing more slowly than I would like (as always), with a teething toddler and sleep deprived nights, and the garden and harvesting requiring my attention now that summer is here. Working half-days as a mom is just very different than things used to be and I just need to be less hard on myself I think.
